SIMIN
AND
FARZAN
"Simin and Farzan" is a paper puppet show based on Alexander Pushkin’s “Ruslan & Lyudmila”, but here we tell this story in an Iranian context. Puppets and Scenery are inspired by Iranian illustrated lithographed books of the Qajar era (1789-1906). Two storyteller-puppeteers and two musicians who play Iranian traditional music, perform the show.Summary
The story begins with a wedding ceremony. Simin and Farzan are about to marry. There are two other rival suitors too who are in love with Simin and wish to marry her. Suddenly an unexpected thing happens and Simin is gone. So Farzan and the two other rivals start a journey to find her.Awards
